Hey, I posted my top 5 music videos of 2011 to an Italian magazine that you can’t understand because nobody speaks Italian. So I’ve translated it below. Check it out, lots of other directors posted their favorites.
Is Tropical “The Greeks” - Dir: Megaforce
This is definitely my favorite video of the year. Megaforce outdoes themselves. Coincidentally, I’ve previously pitched an idea about cartoon Molotov cocktails; but this is an infinitely better version of that concept.
The Lonely Island “The Creep” Dir: The Lonely Island
These guys are so good they make it look effortless. Just watch any of the imitators out there and cringe.
OK Go - All Is Not Lost (Dir: OK Go, Pilobolus and Trish Sie)
OK Go should sign to a production company as a directing collective. They could all be millionaires within a year.
Battles “My Machines” - Dir: Daniels
Great idea, great execution. Also: I’ve been to this mall.
Arty “Rebound” - Dir: Kyle Frere
Okay I know this isn’t a real music video, and doesn’t even include the entire song. But damn that’s a great clip.
